It is 45 miles east of Fredericksburg. Colonial Beach has two miles of sandy beachfront, the second largest in the state. The Victorian resort, one of the few remaining small seaport towns in Virginia, also has a public pier and a boardwalk. There are excellent places to fish, sail and boat as well as to swim and catch crab. Colonial Beach is 15 miles west of Montross.
